Ms. McKenzie is a graduate of the George Mason University School of Law in
Arlington, Virginia. She earned her
Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Criminal Justice from North Carolina State
University and her Paralegal Certificate from George Washington University.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. McKenzie practiced as a paralegal with
Fite, O’Brien & Byrum, Ltd., Hazel & Thomas, P.C., and the Office of
the County Attorney, Fairfax, Virginia. She
joined Colten Cummins Watson & Vincent P.C. as a Law Clerk in May 2004.
During law school, Ms. McKenzie received the Pro Bono Paralegal of
the Year award from the Fairfax Bar Association in 2001.
She founded the Paralegal Section of the Fairfax Bar Association, which
continues as a viable section of the local bar association.
In addition, Ms. McKenzie participated in extracurricular school
activities, including as a Student Researcher for the Commission on Virginia Courts in the 21
Century: To Benefit All, To Exclude None and
as a member of the Women’s Law Association. She
also served as a judicial intern
to the Honorable Judge Gayl B. Carr of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations
District Court of Fairfax County, in association with the George Mason
University School of Law Legal Clinic.
Ms. McKenzie is admitted to practice law in the
Commonwealth of Virginia. Her
practice focuses primarily in the areas of domestic relations and personal
injury. Ms. McKenzie is a member of
the Virginia State Bar, Virginia Trial Lawyers’ Association, Virginia Women
Attorneys Association and the Fairfax Bar Association.
